Head Start Collaboration Project

The New York State Head Start Collaboration Project is a federally-funded program designed to build partnerships between Head Start programs and a wide range of state and local programs that provide quality early childhood education and family support to low-income children and their families. These partnerships are important for maximizing resources and developing comprehensive, efficient, and effective service delivery systems.

Through funding from the federal Office of Head Start, the Collaboration Project serves as a vehicle for including Head Start in policy discussions regarding young children and their families. In partnership with the New York State Head Start Association, other state agencies and early childhood organizations the Head Start Collaboration Project works to address a variety of issues in eight federally identified topic areas including:

  • education;
  • health;
  • child care;
  • welfare reform;
  • family literacy;
  • community services;
  • services to children who are homeless; and
  • children with disabilities.
