Back to TopRecognizing the importance of high quality family literacy services in the lives of Head Start and other low-income children and families, the Council, in partnership with the NYS Head Start Association and the State Education Department's Even Start Program, initiated the development of the New York State Alliance for Family Literacy. Funded from 1999-2003, the New York State Alliance for Family Literacy was a consortium of state agencies, early childhood and adult education programs, family literacy provides, libraries, colleges and universities, and other organizations involved in the provision of literacy education.
